Transportation

UC Davis is located near two international airports: Sacramento International and San Francisco International. Depending on where you are arriving from, you will likely fly into one of these airports and then take ground transportation to the Davis area. There are a number of transportation options from each airport depending on how much money and time you are able to spend.

Getting to Davis from Sacramento International Airport (SMF)

Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is about 22 miles/34 km away from Davis.

➢ SuperShuttle 1-800-BLUE-VAN or 1-800-258-3826
Davis Airporter 1-530-756-6715 or 1-800-565-5153
➢ Yolo Bus 1-530-756-6715 or 1-800-565-5153
➢ Taxi service is available at SMF airport

Davis Airporter and SuperShuttle Shared Van Services

You can make arrangements ahead of time for either SuperShuttle or Davis Airporter van services to pick you up at SMF and deliver you to your address in Davis. These rides are usually shared with other SMF passengers so there may be multiple stops and passenger drop-offs throughout the trip to your final destination. You may make reservations through their web sites or by phone (shown above). Davis Airporter Service requests that you call their 800 number upon arrival at the airport and they will contact the driver to confirm your arrival. If your flight is late, telephone as soon as possible and a vehicle will be sent for you. The Davis Wiki offers information along with customer tips and reviews for both Davis Airporter and SuperShuttle services.

Yolobus

Yolobus offers direct bus service to Davis from the Sacramento International Airport. The #42B bus leaves the Sacramento Airport every hour at 20 minutes after the hour between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. and arrives at the Memorial Union on the UC Davis campus about 45 minutes later. No reservations are required. Although inexpensive, this bus will not deliver you to a specific address in Davis and may not have space for extra baggage. Davis is not a large town, so Davis taxi cab services are a readily available and inexpensive option for transportation from the bus stop to your hotel. A mobile phone will be needed to contact a taxi cab service from the bus stop to arrange pick up.

Taxi Service

Taxi service is also available at the airport. For information about taxi companies, visit Davis taxi cab services or SMF taxi service.

Getting to Davis From San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is about 84 miles/135 km from Davis.

➢ SuperShuttle 1-800-BLUE-VAN or 1-800-258-3826
➢ Davis Airporter 1-530-756-6715 or 1-800-565-5153
➢ BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) connecting to Amtrak Train Service
➢ Taxi service is available at SFO airport

Davis Airporter and SuperShuttle Shared Van Services

You can make arrangements ahead of time for either SuperShuttle or Davis Airporter van services to pick you up at SFO and deliver you to your address in Davis. These rides are usually shared with other SFO passengers so there may be multiple stops and passenger drop-offs throughout the trip to your final destination.

BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) connecting to Amtrak Train Service (Capital Corridor route)

A less expensive (but possibly longer travel time) option for reaching Davis from SFO is to take BART directly from the airport BART train station that is located in the International Terminal (Level 3: Departure/Ticketing Level Near Boarding Area G) to the Richmond station. From Richmond you can then take one of Amtrak’s daily Capital Commuter trains which runs between San Francisco bay area and Sacramento, including a stop in Davis.

Please note that the Davis train station is located in downtown Davis, so you will need to arrange transportation from there to your final destination. Davis is not a large town, so Davis taxi cab services are a readily available and inexpensive option for transportation from the train station to your hotel or final destination in the Davis area. A mobile phone may be needed to contact a taxi cab service from the train station to arrange pick up.

Taxi Service

A multitude of taxi cab services are available at SFO airport.

Zimride – Ride Sharing Service

UC Davis’s website includes the Zimride Service, where you can register to share rides with other people from UC Davis. Once you’ve registered with Zimride, you can add when you’re heading to the airport (either Sacramento or San Francisco) to connect with people who can either give you a ride or share the cost of a taxi with you.
